The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has directed all public and private institutions, including Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Apartment Owners Associations (AOAs), to fully implement Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) guidelines on community animals by January 15, 2025. You can find all the guidelines mentioned below.
The guidelines, issued in line with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023, and directives from the High Courts and Supreme Court, aim to regulate the management of community animals and ensure compliance with animal welfare laws.
